What is Commodities-API?
Commodities-API is a commodity-pricing API that publishes daily rates for agricultural, energy and soft commodities such as wheat, corn, Brent crude oil and sugar.
clariBI reads Commodities-API through its REST API using your own access key: the daily price history for each commodity symbol you choose, against a base currency you set. Access is read-only, and clariBI never changes anything in your account.

Connect Commodities-API in three steps
Open Data Sources in clariBI
In clariBI, go to Data Sources → Add Data Source, find Commodities-API, and paste your access key. The key is Fernet-encrypted at rest.
Choose commodities and history
Type the commodity symbols to track (for example WHEAT, CORN, BRENTOIL), set the base currency, and choose how much history to pull. clariBI reads the prices read-only.
Sync, then get dashboards
clariBI syncs the daily prices, preprocesses them, and builds an insights dashboard. Ask "How did the wheat price track our input costs?" and the AI engine queries the synced prices alongside your spend.
What you can analyze
Out of the box with the Commodities-API connector:
- Daily price per commodity (Brent, WTI, wheat, sugar, and more) over your window
- Energy versus agricultural price divergence across the commodities you track
- Volatility in energy and agricultural commodity prices
- Period-over-period change in a commodity price
- Commodity price moves lined up with your purchase dates
- Cross-source: commodity prices → input costs → margin
Commodities-API is one of many data sources you can connect to clariBI. See the full list →
What gets synced
clariBI pulls the daily price history of the commodities you select through the Commodities-API timeseries endpoint, lands it as a preprocessed dataset, and refreshes it on your schedule. Access is read-only.
For each selected commodity, clariBI syncs the daily rate against your base currency, then builds an insights dashboard you can query, extend, or pull into reports.
clariBI only ever reads. It never changes anything in your Commodities-API account.
Cross-source questions Commodities-API makes possible
Commodities-API data is most useful next to your other tools. clariBI's planner composes it with your CRM, billing, and product data through the same entity-join primitives that back every cross-source analysis.
Commodities-API × Costs
"How much of our cost rise was the wheat price?"
Planner: read the daily wheat price from Commodities-API, align it to your ingredient costs by date, and split the change into price versus volume.
Commodities-API × Margin
"Did the oil-price spike squeeze our freight margin?"
Planner: read the Brent crude price from Commodities-API, join it to freight margin by month, and flag the periods that moved together.
