What is Open Exchange Rates?
Open Exchange Rates is a foreign-exchange-rates API that publishes daily reference rates for more than 170 currencies, relative to a base currency.
clariBI reads Open Exchange Rates through its REST API using your own App ID: the daily rate for each currency you choose, against the US dollar base. Access is read-only, and clariBI never changes anything in your account.
For each day in your chosen window, clariBI requests that day from the historical endpoint and records the rate, building a daily time series per currency.
How to connect Open Exchange Rates
- Open Data Sources in clariBI. In clariBI, go to Data Sources → Add Data Source, find Open Exchange Rates, and paste your App ID (free from openexchangerates.org). The App ID is Fernet-encrypted at rest.
- Choose currencies and history. Type the target currencies to track (for example EUR, GBP, JPY) and choose how many days of history to pull. clariBI reads rates read-only.
- Sync, then get dashboards. clariBI syncs the daily rates, preprocesses them, and builds an insights dashboard. Ask "How did EUR move against the dollar this quarter?" and the AI engine queries the synced rates alongside your revenue and costs.
