How to Export CSV Data from Zoho Books and Import It into clariBI

Export CSV Data from Zoho Books

Method 1: Export Reports

  1. Log in to your Zoho Books account at books.zoho.com
  2. Click Reports in the left-hand navigation sidebar
  3. Browse or search for the report you want (e.g., under "Business Overview" select "Profit and Loss")
  4. Set the date range and any other filters at the top of the report page
  5. Click Run Report to generate your data
  6. In the top-right corner of the report, click the Export icon (it looks like a box with an arrow, or may say "Export As")
  7. Select CSV from the dropdown options
  8. The CSV file will download to your computer

Method 2: Export Invoices, Estimates, or Bills

  1. From the left sidebar, navigate to Sales > Invoices (or Purchases > Bills)
  2. Use the filters and date range options to narrow down the records
  3. Click the Hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) or the More icon near the top of the list
  4. Select Export or Export as CSV
  5. Choose the fields you want included or accept the defaults
  6. Click Export and the CSV file will download

Method 3: Export Contacts or Items

  1. Navigate to Sales > Customers (or Purchases > Vendors, or Items)
  2. From the top of the list view, click the Hamburger menu (three horizontal lines icon)
  3. Select Export from the dropdown
  4. Choose CSV as the file format
  5. Select the fields you want included in the export
  6. Click Export to download

Tips for Clean Exports

  • Zoho Books lets you choose which fields to include during export — select only the fields relevant to your analysis to keep the CSV clean
  • Use the "Profit and Loss" or "Sales by Customer" reports for the most actionable data in clariBI
  • If you are part of a Zoho One suite, make sure you are in the correct organization before exporting

Import Your Data into clariBI

  1. Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
  2. Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
  3. Click the + Add Source button (top right)
  4. Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
  5. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Zoho Books - Sales by Customer 2024")
  6. Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
  7. Click Create Data Source

Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "Who are my top 10 customers by total invoiced amount?"
- "What is the breakdown of my expenses by category this quarter?"
- "Show me monthly sales growth over the past year"
