Toggl Track is a popular time tracking tool used by freelancers, agencies, and teams to log hours across projects and clients. Exporting your Toggl Track data as CSV and importing it into clariBI lets you apply AI analytics to understand productivity patterns, project profitability, and time allocation.
What You Can Export from Toggl Track
- Detailed time entries (date, description, project, client, duration, tags)

Important: CSV and Excel exports from the Reports section require a paid Toggl Track plan (Starter or higher). Free plan users can export time entries from Settings > Data Export > Time Entries (up to 1 year of data at a time). Report exports also have a maximum time frame of one year.
Export CSV Data from Toggl Track
Method 1: Export Detailed Report
- Log in to your Toggl Track account
- Click Reports in the left sidebar
- Select Detailed report type at the top
- Set the date range using the date picker (e.g., last month, last quarter, custom range)
- Apply filters for client, project, team member, or tags as needed
- Click the Export button (download icon) at the top-right of the report
- Select Download as CSV
- The file will download with individual time entries and all associated details
Method 2: Export Summary Report
- Navigate to Reports in the left sidebar
- Select Summary report type at the top
- Choose your date range and apply any filters
- Select the grouping (e.g., Group by Project, Group by Client, Group by User)
- Click the Export button and choose Download as CSV
- The CSV contains aggregated hours based on your selected grouping
Method 3: Export Weekly Report
- Go to Reports and select Weekly report type
- Set the date range for the weeks you want to analyze
- The report shows daily breakdowns by project or team member
- Click the Export button and select Download as CSV
- Download the file with weekly hour distributions
Tips for Clean Exports
- Use the Detailed report for the most granular data, then let clariBI aggregate it for you
- Apply project and client filters before exporting if you want focused datasets
- Include tags in your time entries before exporting so you can analyze time by activity type in clariBI
Import Your Data into clariBI
- Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
- Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
- Click the + Add Source button (top right)
- Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Toggl - Detailed Time Report Jan 2025")
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
- Click Create Data Source
Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "What is the billable vs. non-billable hour ratio by project and which clients are most profitable?"
- "Show me each team member's weekly utilization rate and identify patterns in overtime."
- "Which projects consumed the most hours last quarter and how does actual time compare to estimates?"
