How to Export CSV Data from Sage Business Cloud and Import It into clariBI

Learn how to export your accounting reports, contact lists, and transaction data from Sage Business Cloud as CSV files and import them into clariBI for deeper analysis.

Sage Business Cloud (also known as Sage Accounting) is a widely used accounting platform for small and growing businesses. Exporting your Sage data to clariBI enables you to leverage AI for faster financial analysis, trend detection, and data-driven decision making.

What You Can Export from Sage Business Cloud

Export CSV Data from Sage Business Cloud

Method 1: Export Reports

  1. Log in to your Sage Business Cloud account at id.sage.com
  2. Click Reporting (or Reports depending on your Sage version) in the left-hand navigation menu
  3. Select the report you want to export (e.g., "Profit and Loss" or "Balance Sheet")
  4. Set your date range and any other relevant filters at the top of the report
  5. Click Run Report or Update to generate the report
  6. Look for the Export button near the top-right area of the report
  7. Select CSV from the available export format options
  8. The file will download automatically to your computer

Method 2: Export Contacts

  1. From the main navigation, click Contacts
  2. Select either Customers or Suppliers from the submenu
  3. Review the list and apply any filters you need
  4. Click the Export button at the top of the list
  5. Choose CSV from the export options
  6. The contact data will download as a CSV file

Method 3: Export Transactions

  1. Navigate to Banking in the left sidebar
  2. Select the bank account you want to export transactions from
  3. Set the date range for the transactions you need
  4. Click the Export or Download option
  5. Select CSV as the format
  6. Your transaction data will download

Tips for Clean Exports

  • Sage reports often include summary rows — look for a "Detailed" view option before exporting to get individual line items
  • When exporting contacts, Sage includes both active and inactive records by default. Use the status filter to export only active contacts if preferred
  • If you manage multiple businesses in Sage, make sure you have the correct business selected before exporting

Import Your Data into clariBI

  1. Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
  2. Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
  3. Click the + Add Source button (top right)
  4. Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
  5. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Sage - Aged Debtors Report Feb 2025")
  6. Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
  7. Click Create Data Source

Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "Show me my profit margin trend over the last 6 months"
- "Which suppliers do I spend the most with?"
- "What percentage of my invoices are overdue?"
