PayPal Business is one of the most widely used payment platforms for online and in-person transactions. Exporting your PayPal data into clariBI lets you use AI to track payment trends, analyze fees, identify your best customers, and gain visibility into your transaction patterns.

Export CSV Data from PayPal Business
Method 1: Download Activity Report
- Log in to your PayPal Business account at paypal.com
- Click Activity in the top navigation bar
- Use the date range filter to select the period you want to export
- You can also filter by transaction type (payments received, payments sent, etc.)
- Click the Download link (or small download icon) located above the transaction list, typically on the right side
- In the download dialog, set your date range
- Under File Type, select CSV
- Click Download to save the file to your computer
Method 2: Download Statements
- Navigate to Reports > Statements
- Select Monthly or Custom for your statement type
- Choose the month or enter your custom date range
- Click Request or Download
- Select CSV as the file format
- The statement will download as a CSV file
Method 3: Download from Reports
- Click Reports in the top or left navigation
- Select Activity download from the available report types
- Choose your desired date range (PayPal allows up to a 7-year lookback)
- Select the transaction type to include (or choose "All" for everything)
- Choose CSV as the output format
- Click Create Report and then download once it is ready
Tips for Clean Exports
- PayPal CSV files include a "Balance Impact" column — filter on this to focus only on transactions that affected your actual balance
- PayPal transaction descriptions can be long and inconsistent. clariBI will still analyze them, but consider cleaning up merchant names for better grouping
- For the most complete data, use the Reports > Activity Download option rather than the Activity page export, as it includes more fields
Import Your Data into clariBI
- Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
- Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
- Click the + Add Source button (top right)
- Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "PayPal - Transaction History 2024")
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
- Click Create Data Source
Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
