How to Export CSV Data from Lightspeed and Import It into clariBI

3 min read Updated February 11, 2026
Export sales, inventory, and customer data from Lightspeed POS as CSV and import it into clariBI for AI-powered retail analytics and inventory insights.

Lightspeed is a cloud-based POS and commerce platform used by retailers and restaurants to manage sales, inventory, and customers. Exporting your Lightspeed data into clariBI enables AI-driven analysis of sales performance, product trends, and customer purchasing patterns.

Note: Lightspeed has multiple product series — X-Series, R-Series, and L-Series (Restaurant) — each with a different interface. The steps below are based on the X-Series (formerly Vend) interface. For R-Series, navigate to Tools > Exports to access data export options.

What You Can Export from Lightspeed

  • Sales transaction data with line items and totals
  • Product and inventory listings with quantities and costs
  • Customer profiles with purchase history
  • Employee sales performance data
  • Category and brand breakdowns
  • Discount and promotion usage records
  • Tax collection summaries
  • Supplier and purchase order data

Export CSV Data from Lightspeed

Method 1: Sales Reports Export

  1. Log in to your Lightspeed account (Retail or Restaurant)
  2. Navigate to Reports in the main navigation menu
  3. Select the report type you want: Sales Summary, Sales by Product, Sales by Category, Sales by Employee, or other available reports
  4. Set the Date Range using the date picker at the top
  5. Apply any additional filters (location, register, etc.)
  6. Click the Export button (often a download icon or "Export" link)
  7. Select CSV as the format and the report will download

Method 2: Inventory and Product Export

  1. Go to Inventory or Products in the navigation
  2. Browse or filter your product list
  3. Click the Export button at the top of the product list
  4. Select CSV to download your complete product catalog with quantities, prices, and costs

Method 3: Customer Data Export

  1. Navigate to Customers in the left sidebar
  2. Apply any filters to narrow the customer list if desired
  3. Click the Export button to download customer data as CSV
  4. The export includes customer names, contact details, and purchase summaries

Tips for Clean Exports

  • Use the Sales by Product report for the most actionable data — it shows exactly which items are selling, in what quantities, and at what revenue
  • Export inventory data regularly (weekly or monthly) and import each snapshot to track stock level changes over time in clariBI
  • If you operate multiple locations, export data per location or use the location filter to create comparative analyses
  • X-Series limit: Sales exports are capped at 1,000 sales per export. Use date range filters to break larger datasets into multiple exports

Import Your Data into clariBI

Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:

clariBI's AI will automatically analyze your data and suggest relevant insights.
