FreshBooks makes invoicing and expense tracking simple for freelancers and small business owners. By exporting your FreshBooks data into clariBI, you can use conversational AI to understand your billing trends, identify your most profitable clients, and track expenses with ease.

Export CSV Data from FreshBooks
Method 1: Export Reports (Including Invoice Data)
- Log in to your FreshBooks account at my.freshbooks.com
- Click Reports in the left-hand sidebar
- Select the report you want to export (e.g., "Profit & Loss", "Expense Report", or "Invoice Details")
- Set your desired date range using the date picker at the top of the report
- Click Run Report (or wait for the report to load automatically with your filters)
- Click More Actions near the top-right corner of the report
- Select Export for Excel or Download as CSV from the dropdown
- The file will download directly to your computer
Tip: To export invoice data, use the Invoice Details report under Reports rather than the Invoices list page, which does not have a direct CSV export option.
Method 2: Export Invoice Details via Reports
- From the left sidebar, click Reports
- Select the Invoice Details report
- Use the filters at the top to set your desired date range or invoice status
- Click Run Report to generate the data
- Click More Actions and select Export for Excel or Download as CSV
- Your invoice data will download to your computer
Method 3: Export Client Lists
- Navigate to Clients in the left sidebar
- You will see your full client list displayed
- Click the Export option (typically available via a menu icon or the top-right area)
- Choose CSV as the format
- The client list will download to your computer
Tips for Clean Exports
- FreshBooks reports give you the most structured data — use the Profit & Loss or Expense Report for financial analysis
- If you need line-item invoice details, use the "Invoice Details" report rather than exporting the invoice list, as it includes individual line items
- Make sure to select the correct fiscal date range to match the period you want to analyze
Import Your Data into clariBI
- Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
- Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
- Click the + Add Source button (top right)
- Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "FreshBooks - Expense Report 2024")
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
- Click Create Data Source
Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "Which client generated the most revenue this year?"
- "What are my top expense categories by total amount?"
- "Show me my monthly invoicing trend for the past 12 months"
clariBI's AI will automatically analyze your data and suggest relevant insights.
