How to Export CSV Data from ConvertKit (Kit) and Import It into clariBI

ConvertKit (now rebranded as Kit) is a popular email marketing platform for creators. You can export your subscriber data and broadcast performance as CSV files and analyze them in clariBI for deeper audience and engagement insights.

What You Can Export from ConvertKit

  • Subscriber lists with email addresses, names, and subscription dates
  • Tag-based subscriber segments
  • Broadcast (email) performance statistics
  • Sequence (automation) subscriber data
  • Form and landing page subscriber records
  • Purchase and product data (for Commerce users)
  • Unsubscribed and complained contact records
  • Custom field data attached to subscribers

Export CSV Data from ConvertKit

Method 1: Export All Subscribers

  1. Log in to your ConvertKit (Kit) account at app.kit.com
  2. Click on Grow > Subscribers in the main navigation (or simply Subscribers in older Kit versions)
  3. Select all subscribers by clicking the checkbox at the top of the subscriber list
  4. Click Bulk Actions > Export
  5. Kit will prepare your export and email you a download link when it is ready
  6. Check your email and click the download link to save the CSV file to your computer

Note: Export download links expire after 5 days. Be sure to download your file promptly.

Method 2: Export Filtered Subscribers by Tag or Segment

  1. Navigate to Subscribers in the main navigation
  2. Use the filter options to select a specific tag, segment, form, or sequence
  3. Once the filtered list is displayed, select subscribers using the checkbox, then click Bulk Actions > Export
  4. The export will include only the subscribers matching your selected filter
  5. Kit will email you a download link when the file is ready (links expire after 5 days)

Method 3: Export Broadcast Statistics

  1. Go to Send > Broadcasts in the navigation menu
  2. Click on the specific broadcast (email) you want to analyze
  3. On the broadcast report page, review metrics including open rate, click rate, and unsubscribes
  4. Click the Export or Download option if available on the report page
  5. For recipient-level data, click into the Recipients or Activity tab and export from there
  6. If a direct CSV export is not available for broadcast stats, copy the summary metrics into a spreadsheet and save as CSV

Tips for Clean Exports

  • Filter by tag before exporting to create focused data sets for specific audience segments
  • Include custom fields in your subscriber data for richer analysis in clariBI
  • Export subscriber data regularly (e.g., monthly) to track list growth trends over time

Import Your Data into clariBI

  1. Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
  2. Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
  3. Click the + Add Source button (top right)
  4. Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
  5. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "ConvertKit - Subscribers by Tag")
  6. Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
  7. Click Create Data Source

Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "How has my subscriber count grown month over month?"
- "Which tags have the most engaged subscribers based on open rates?"
- "What is the average open rate for my broadcasts over the last 6 months?"

clariBI's AI will automatically analyze your data and suggest relevant insights.
