How to Export CSV Data from Buffer and Import It into clariBI

2 min read Updated February 11, 2026
Export your Buffer analytics data as CSV and import it into clariBI to analyze social media post performance across all your connected channels.

Buffer provides analytics on your scheduled social media posts across multiple platforms. Exporting this data into clariBI allows you to compare performance across channels and identify your best-performing content strategies.

What You Can Export from Buffer

  • Post-level performance data (reach, impressions, engagements, clicks)
  • Engagement rate per post across connected channels
  • Follower growth over time per channel
  • Best posting times and day-of-week performance
  • Content type breakdown (links, images, videos, text)
  • Likes, comments, shares, and retweets per post
  • Channel-by-channel performance comparison data
  • Post text, publish date, and associated media type

Export CSV Data from Buffer

  1. Log in to your Buffer account at buffer.com
  2. Click Analytics in the left sidebar navigation
  3. Select the social media channel you want to export data for from the channel selector at the top
  4. Choose either the Overview tab (for summary metrics) or the Posts tab (for individual post data)
  5. Set your desired date range using the date picker
  6. Click the Export button (typically a download icon or labeled "Export") in the top right area of the analytics view
  7. Select CSV as the export format
  8. The CSV file will download with your analytics data for the selected channel and date range

Advanced Analytics Export (Essentials, Team, or Agency Plan)

  1. On a paid Buffer plan (Essentials, Team, or Agency), analytics are built into the main dashboard — navigate to Analytics in the left sidebar
  2. Select your report type (Overview, Posts, Stories, etc.)
  3. Set your date range and any filters
  4. Click the Export button > CSV
  5. Paid plans provide more detailed metrics and cross-channel comparison data

Tips for Clean Exports

  • Export each channel separately since Buffer generates individual files per social media account
  • The Posts tab export provides granular per-post data that is most useful for clariBI analysis
  • If you manage multiple brands, switch between organizations before exporting to keep data separate

Note: Buffer analytics exports download as a .zip file containing CSV data rather than a plain CSV file. After downloading, unzip the file to extract the CSV before uploading to clariBI.
