Buffer provides analytics on your scheduled social media posts across multiple platforms. Exporting this data into clariBI allows you to compare performance across channels and identify your best-performing content strategies.
What You Can Export from Buffer
- Post-level performance data (reach, impressions, engagements, clicks)
- Engagement rate per post across connected channels
- Follower growth over time per channel
- Best posting times and day-of-week performance
- Content type breakdown (links, images, videos, text)
- Likes, comments, shares, and retweets per post
- Channel-by-channel performance comparison data
- Post text, publish date, and associated media type
Export CSV Data from Buffer
- Log in to your Buffer account at buffer.com
- Click Analytics in the left sidebar navigation
- Select the social media channel you want to export data for from the channel selector at the top
- Choose either the Overview tab (for summary metrics) or the Posts tab (for individual post data)
- Set your desired date range using the date picker
- Click the Export button (typically a download icon or labeled "Export") in the top right area of the analytics view
- Select CSV as the export format
- The CSV file will download with your analytics data for the selected channel and date range
Advanced Analytics Export (Essentials, Team, or Agency Plan)
- On a paid Buffer plan (Essentials, Team, or Agency), analytics are built into the main dashboard — navigate to Analytics in the left sidebar
- Select your report type (Overview, Posts, Stories, etc.)
- Set your date range and any filters
- Click the Export button > CSV
- Paid plans provide more detailed metrics and cross-channel comparison data
Tips for Clean Exports
- Export each channel separately since Buffer generates individual files per social media account
- The Posts tab export provides granular per-post data that is most useful for clariBI analysis
- If you manage multiple brands, switch between organizations before exporting to keep data separate
Note: Buffer analytics exports download as a .zip file containing CSV data rather than a plain CSV file. After downloading, unzip the file to extract the CSV before uploading to clariBI.
Import Your Data into clariBI
- Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
- Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
- Click the + Add Source button (top right)
- Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Buffer - Instagram Post Performance Q1 2025")
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
- Click Create Data Source
Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "Which type of content gets the most engagement across my social channels?"
- "What is my average engagement rate by day of the week?"
- "How does my Instagram performance compare to my Twitter performance this quarter?"
clariBI's AI will automatically analyze your data and suggest relevant insights.
