Asana is a popular project management tool that lets you export project and task data as CSV files. Importing this data into clariBI enables AI-driven analysis of project timelines, task completion rates, and team productivity.
What You Can Export from Asana

Export CSV Data from Asana
Method 1: Export a Project
- Log in to your Asana account at app.asana.com
- Open the project you want to export
- Click the dropdown arrow (or Project Actions menu) next to the project name at the top
- Select Export/Print from the dropdown menu
- Choose CSV as the export format
- The CSV file will download to your computer containing all tasks in the project
- The export includes task name, assignee, due date, section, completion status, and any custom fields
Method 2: Export from Advanced Search
- Click the Search bar at the top of Asana
- Click Advanced Search (or press Tab after clicking search)
- Set your search criteria: project, assignee, due date range, completion status, tags, etc.
- Review the search results to confirm they match what you need
- Click the Actions menu (three-dot icon) or the Export button in the search results
- Select Export to Microsoft Excel
- Download the CSV file containing all tasks matching your search
Method 3: Export from List View
- Open the project and switch to List view if not already in it
- Apply any sort or filter options to narrow the tasks displayed
- Click the dropdown arrow (or Project Actions menu) next to the project name
- Select Export/Print > CSV
- The export will respect your current filters and include only the visible tasks
Tips for Clean Exports
- Use custom fields for priority, effort, and category before exporting so the CSV includes these structured data points for analysis
- Export completed tasks separately from active tasks to analyze completion patterns and velocity
- For cross-project analysis, use Advanced Search to gather tasks from multiple projects into a single export
Import Your Data into clariBI
- Log in to your clariBI account at claribi.com
- Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
- Click the + Add Source button (top right)
- Under Direct Upload, select CSV File
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Asana - Product Roadmap Tasks")
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your CSV file
- Click Create Data Source
Once imported, you can ask clariBI questions like:
- "What percentage of tasks are overdue across all projects?"
- "Which team members have the highest task completion rate this month?"
- "Show me the distribution of tasks by section and completion status."
