What is DataForSEO?

DataForSEO is an SEO data provider with APIs for rankings, keywords, backlinks, and competitor research. Its Labs domain rank overview returns a domain's organic position distribution and estimated search traffic.

clariBI reads DataForSEO through its Labs REST API using your own account login: for each domain you track, it captures how many of the domain's ranking keywords sit in each SERP-position band, the estimated organic traffic value, and the rank-change counts. Access is read-only, and clariBI never changes anything in your DataForSEO account.

How to connect DataForSEO

  1. Open Data Sources in clariBI. In clariBI, go to Data SourcesAdd Data Source, find DataForSEO, and paste your DataForSEO login and password (from app.dataforseo.com API access). They are Fernet-encrypted at rest.
  2. Choose the domains to track. Type the domains to monitor (for example your own domain and a few competitors). clariBI reads each domain rank overview read-only.
  3. Sync, then get dashboards. clariBI captures the position distribution and estimated traffic, preprocesses them, and builds an insights dashboard. Ask "How does our ranking spread compare to competitors?" and the AI engine queries the synced data alongside your traffic.

What you can analyze

  • Count of ranking keywords in each SERP-position band per domain
  • Estimated organic traffic value (etv) per domain
  • Total ranking keyword count per domain
  • New, up, down, and lost rank movements per domain
  • Comparison across the domains you track
  • Cross-source: ranking distribution → organic clicks → revenue

What gets synced

clariBI pulls the domain rank overview for the domains you select through the DataForSEO Labs REST API, lands it as a preprocessed dataset, and refreshes it on your schedule. Access is read-only.

For each domain, clariBI syncs the organic position distribution (pos_1 through pos_91_100), the estimated traffic value, the ranking keyword count, and the rank-change counts, then builds an insights dashboard you can query, extend, or pull into reports. Each sync captures the current snapshot, so repeated syncs build a history over time.

clariBI only ever reads. It never changes anything in your DataForSEO account.

Questions across your other data

Once your records are synced, the AI engine can join them to the rest of your business data. A few examples:

PairingQuestionHow clariBI answers
DataForSEO × Organic traffic"Is our wider ranking footprint turning into more organic clicks?"Planner: read the estimated traffic value and position distribution from DataForSEO, align to organic sessions by month, and report the footprint-to-traffic lift.
DataForSEO × Competitors"Where do competitors out-rank us across our key terms?"Planner: read each domain rank overview from DataForSEO, compare the position bands across domains, and flag where competitors hold more top-ten positions.
