Bitly turns long URLs into branded, trackable short links. Connecting Bitly to clariBI surfaces every link, click event, QR code, and campaign tag into your AI analyses.
Why connect Bitly
Link analytics usually live in the Bitly dashboard; cross-checking click trends against revenue or product activity is a manual export.
With Bitly connected, you can ask "Which campaign links drove the most clicks last quarter?", "How are our branded short links trending vs. last month?", or "What QR codes have the highest scan-to-conversion rate?" and the AI engine pulls the answer.
How the connection works
clariBI talks to Bitly through its hosted MCP server at https://api-ssl.bitly.com/v4/mcp. Authentication uses an OAuth flow that clariBI registers itself for (no developer console setup on your side). Tokens stay encrypted server-side and never leave clariBI in clear form.

Available tools
clariBI exposes the read-only Bitly tools that the vendor's MCP server publishes at connection time. Write operations (create, update, delete, send, refund) are filtered out by a name-pattern blocklist before any tool reaches the analysis engine, so connecting Bitly cannot modify data on the vendor side.
The exact tool inventory depends on the Bitly features your account has access to. After connecting, try a few natural-language questions to see what Bitly data clariBI can pull.
Data flow during analysis
When you ask a question that maps to Bitly, the AI engine routes to the right tool, reads the result, and pairs the answer with a chart you can pin to a dashboard.

Setting up the connection
- Open Data Sources in the clariBI sidebar.
- Click Add data source.
- Open the MCP Servers tab.
- Click the Bitly card.
- Click Authorize with Bitly.
- Sign in to Bitly in the popup window and grant the requested read scopes.
- Back in clariBI, give your data source a name.
- Click Finish.
Permissions and data access
OAuth scoping is granted at authorize time on the Bitly consent screen. clariBI restricts itself to read-only tools even where the MCP server exposes mutating operations. Disconnect from Bitly settings or from clariBI Settings.
Troubleshooting
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Authorization expired" | Bitly OAuth tokens rotate and the refresh failed silently. | Reconnect Bitly from Settings → Integrations; the next OAuth round-trip restores the connection. |
| "Insufficient scope" | The Bitly account did not grant the read scopes clariBI requested. | Reconnect and accept all read permissions on the Bitly consent screen. |
