Comments
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
Leave comments on dashboards and reports to discuss findings with your team. Comments support threaded replies.
Plan Requirement
Comments are part of the team collaboration feature, available on Professional ($199/mo) and Enterprise ($999/mo) plans.
Adding a Comment
- Open a shared resource within a workspace (dashboard, report, or AI query)
- Open the Discussion & Comments panel
- Type your message in the comment editor and click Post Comment
@Mentions
Type @ in the comment editor to mention workspace members. A dropdown appears showing available team members. Select a member to notify them about the comment.
You can also type @claribi to ask the AI assistant a question directly within the discussion. When you mention @claribi, the AI will respond to your comment with data-driven insights.
Threaded Replies
Click Reply on any comment to start a thread. Threads keep related discussion grouped together. This is useful when multiple conversations are happening on the same resource.
Editing and Deleting
You can edit your own comments after posting (the comment shows an "edited" indicator with the most recent edit timestamp). You can delete your own comments at any time — a confirmation prompt appears before deletion to prevent accidents. Workspace owners and administrators can also delete other members' comments if moderation is needed.
Notifications
Comments trigger in-app notifications (and email notifications, if the recipient has them enabled in their notification settings) for:
- @Mentions: the mentioned user gets a direct notification — "@you was mentioned in [resource name]".
- Thread replies: anyone who has commented on a thread gets notified when a new reply is posted, even if they aren't mentioned. Useful for keeping discussions alive without re-pinging the original commenter.
- Resource owner: the owner of the dashboard / report gets a notification when anyone first comments on it. Subsequent comments on the same resource don't re-notify the owner; the discussion is now active.
Notification preferences (email on / off per category) are managed in Settings → Notifications.
@clariBI — Asking the AI Inside a Discussion
Typing @claribi in a comment routes the comment to the AI engine. Useful patterns:
- "@claribi why did MRR drop last week?" — the AI analyzes the dashboard's underlying data and posts a follow-up comment with its answer.
- "@claribi which marketing channel contributed most to this conversion spike?"
- "@claribi explain this widget's anomaly" — pointing at a chart that's already on the dashboard.
The AI's response consumes credits from your organization's allocation (same as Conversational Analytics). The reply shows up as a comment from the @clariBI bot user, with the analysis inline. Team members can reply normally and ask follow-ups.
Who Can Comment
Any workspace member with at least Member role on the workspace can post comments. Viewer-only members can read comments but can't post. The comment author's name + role badge + timestamp are shown.
Audit Trail (Pro+ / Enterprise)
On Professional and Enterprise tiers, comment events (post, edit, delete) are recorded in the organization audit log. Useful for compliance reviews where you need to demonstrate decision discussions were captured.
