Egnyte is enterprise content collaboration with strong governance and audit trails. Connecting Egnyte to clariBI surfaces file metadata, folder structure, and content search inside your AI analyses, so questions about document activity get answered against the same source of truth your auditors use.
Why connect Egnyte
Compliance reviews, vendor renewal checks, and contract audits usually involve manually traversing Egnyte folders or running CSV exports of file listings. Both take time and lag the actual state of the workspace.
With Egnyte connected, you can ask "Which contracts were updated last month?", "Find files in the legal folder older than 2 years", or "List PDFs added since the last board meeting" and the AI engine returns the answer with the relevant files referenced.
How the connection works
clariBI talks to Egnyte through its hosted MCP server at https://mcp-server.egnyte.com/sse. Authentication uses an OAuth flow that clariBI registers itself for (no developer console setup on your side). Tokens stay encrypted server-side and never leave clariBI in clear form.

Available tools
clariBI exposes the read-only Egnyte tools that the vendor's MCP server publishes at connection time. Write operations (create, update, delete, send, refund) are filtered out by a name-pattern blocklist before any tool reaches the analysis engine, so connecting Egnyte cannot modify data on the vendor side.
The exact tool inventory depends on the Egnyte features your account has access to. After connecting, try a few natural-language questions to see what Egnyte data clariBI can pull.
Data flow during analysis
When you ask a question that maps to Egnyte, the AI engine routes to the right tool, reads the result, and pairs the answer with a chart you can pin to a dashboard.

Setting up the connection
- Open Data Sources in the clariBI sidebar.
- Click Add data source.
- Open the MCP Servers tab.
- Click the Egnyte card.
- Click Authorize with Egnyte.
- Sign in to Egnyte in the popup window and grant the requested read scopes.
- Back in clariBI, give your data source a name.
- Click Finish.
Permissions and data access
clariBI requests read-only filesystem access. No files can be uploaded, modified, deleted, or renamed. The integration respects existing Egnyte folder permissions, so users only see what their own Egnyte role allows. Disconnect anytime from Egnyte account settings or from clariBI Settings.
Troubleshooting
| Error | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Folder access denied" | Some folders restrict access at the Egnyte permission layer beyond your user role. | Have an Egnyte admin grant your user read access to the folder, then retry the analysis. |
| "Workspace not found" | Your Egnyte session is associated with a different workspace than expected. | Sign out of Egnyte in another tab, sign back into the right workspace, then reconnect from clariBI. |
