Dashboard Auto-Refresh
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
Want your dashboard to update itself without you clicking refresh? Auto-refresh pulls fresh data from your sources at a schedule you define.
How Auto-Refresh Works
When auto-refresh is enabled, clariBI periodically re-queries each widget's data source and recalculates AI insights. You can set the refresh frequency during dashboard creation (Step 5: Deploy) or update it later from the dashboard settings.
Setting Up Auto-Refresh
Open the dashboard you want to auto-refresh
Click the Settings (gear) icon in the dashboard toolbar
Under Auto-Refresh, choose a refresh frequency: Manual Only, Every Hour, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly
Click Save. The settings panel also shows an estimated monthly credit usage for the selected frequency.
Cache Behavior
Auto-refresh respects your tier's cache duration:
- Trial: 1-day cache (data may be up to 1 day old even with refresh enabled)
- Starter: 7-day cache
- Professional: 14-day cache
- Enterprise: 30-day cache
Within the cache window, refreshes pull from cached data (fast). When the cache expires, a fresh query runs against the source (slower but up-to-date).
Pro Tip
Hourly refresh works best for operational dashboards that need frequently updated data. For weekly or monthly review dashboards, a daily or weekly interval saves AI credits without losing value.
Manual Refresh
You can always trigger a manual refresh by clicking the refresh icon in the dashboard toolbar. This bypasses the cache and pulls fresh data immediately.
